Abstract :
The paper describes the application of computer-aided control system design methods in the development of process controls for industrial plant. A representation of linear multivariable process dynamics is derived which is well suited for the design of feedback control. Real-time computer-aided design software has been programmed. incorporating this linear theory, to assist in the implementation of automatic computer control of the manufacture of milk powder. An online graphics facility proves to be a powerful design feature. The operation of controllers on plant is described. The techniques are shown to provide an effective procedure for the design and implementation of computer control systems.
