Abstract :
The financial market meltdown and widespread stagnation of economic activity forced companies to reevaluate their R&D priorities and overall strategy. Prior to the economic recession, globalization served to increasingly disperse R&D assets, and countries and regions, namely Asia and China, have greatly benefitted from this trend. As the growth of micro and nanotechnology is still quite dependent on such funding, including government support, it is important to consider its impact in 2010 and beyond.
