  • Abstract
In the present scenario, mobile phone is considered to be one of the prime causes of road accidents. In this paper we have used mobile phone itself as a means of safe and impervious driving. We have successfully detected and analysed the driving behaviour - Acceleration/Deceleration, Lane Change. Also the road anomalies like bumps and potholes are detected and data is processed to generate alerts. A smartphone has large number of sensors embedded within it. We make the use of accelerometer and GPS sensor of a smartphone to detect the driving behaviour and road anomalies on the road. The data from the sensors are analysed and processed on some conditions based on fuzzy system. The output of fuzzy system is generated after passing through several steps involved in the process. Finally on the basis of output, an alert is generated if the driver bypasses the safety limits. In case of any casualty the relatives are informed by an automatic call/SMS. By making use of smartphone we have reduced the cost which is incurred by embedding various sensors on car for the same purpose. Hence this is a cost effective technique which works in the direction of creating a healthy and safe environment for driving.
