Abstract :
Soliton stabilisation by narrowband filtering in wavelength-division-multiplexing transmission systems exploiting dispersion management between singlemode fibres and dispersion-compensating fibres is numerically demonstrated. Considering 16×10 Gbit/s systems, it is shown that in addition to jitter reduction and amplitude stabilisation, narrowband filtering provides tolerance to residual dispersion slope thus making possible transoceanic transmission distances
