Abstract :
The present communication describes the development of an experimental arrangement for automatic recording of hysteresis loss without making use of a cathode ray oscilloscope. A simple moving coil type d.c. meter in the proposed arrangement reads the hysteresis loss directly. The working principle of the instrument has been described and methods of calibrations have been incorporated. The operation of the instrument may be said to be independent of temperature since its calibration may be achieved quite quickly. The instrument may be used for yielding quick and reliable information regarding the hysteresis loss of any ferromagnetic material in convenient size and shape. The possibility of the use of the experimental arrangement for measurement of hysteresis loss at different temperatures and for continuous recording of the variation of hysteresis loss with temperature has also been indicated.
