Abstract :
Two types of no-break generating sets are described: an all-electric battery operated equipment, and a diesel electric equipment. Detailed descriptions are given of three electronic devices used with these sets: (a) a static exciter automatic voltage regulator making use of two saturated transductors; (b) an alternator synchronizer in which the generator and mains voltages are compared in a triode circuit; (c) speed regulator using a thyratron which feeds the control field of the d.c. motor and. also incorporates alarm and protection devices.
