Abstract :
We present a novel pump scheme for slab lasers as distributed-side-pumping. This allows large absorption length, large pump area, and relatively uniform pump profile. We optimize the parameters of slab and pumping system, and carry out numerical calculation of thermal effects in the composite slab and homogeneous slab. Design of 1-kW distributed-side-pumped slab oscillator is described as well.
