Abstract
We have proposed the synthesis of the optical coherence function, for various applications, by utilizing the direct frequency modulation of a laser diode. However, available shape of the coherence function only by using the frequency modulation has been restricted. In this letter, it is shown that arbitrary shapes of the optical coherence function can be synthesized by simultaneously using the phase modulation. Examples are shown both in theory and in experiment.
