Abstract
An efficient method is presented to extract the active distortions of polarimetric radar systems without the measurement of a point calibration target under field conditions. The active distortions are extracted using the signal returned from the antenna input. The backscattering coefficients of distributed targets measured using the proposed method agree quite well with results of numerical simulations and spaceborne SAR measurements.
