Abstract
The problem of comparing different artificial-intelligence-based solutions for instrument fault detection and isolation is dealt with. In particular, both design difficulties and diagnostic performance have to be analyzed in order to find the optimum solution for the particular application. An example of comparison is described in detail referring to a measurement and control station dedicated to the automatic control of a heat ventilating and air conditioning system
