Abstract :
A number of detection schemes are compared using two partial erasure models in conjunction with a read channel model. The schemes considered are EPR4, EEPR4, TCPR4, Generalized PR and MLDFE. It is shown that the coding gain associated with EEPR4 and TCPR4 are more than offset by the rate loss. The performance difference between EPR4 and more complex schemes is studied for varying amounts of nonlinearities
