Abstract :
The paper deals with the problem of multiple-choice testing, a possible random choice of answers and the role of ICT in this process. The present research provides comparison of multiple-choice and open-answer test scores in the field of English grammar. The research sample consisted of 295 participants - students of the Faculty of Informatics and Management, University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. Data were processed by the method of multiple regression. Results proved the statistically significant difference between test scores in the multiple-choice and open-answer format. Results were discussed from the point of learning styles and preferred approaches to testing.
