Abstract :
Faraday rotation (FR) measurements are reported for single crystals of cobalt cadmium spinel ferrite (Cd0.25Co0.75 Fe2O4) at 1.15 μm in a magnetic field up to 20 kOe, in the 7 to 600 K temperature range. The results are compared to the observed magnetic properties. Large negative FR up to 500°/cm are found to be associated with an increase of the magnetization. At 300 K, a 4 πM value of 5400 G and an FR of -3600°/cm are attained. Below 150 K, a field-induced transition is observed in both magnetooptical and magnetic behavior. The results are briefly discussed in terms of Co2+ ion distribution
