Abstract
A scheme for enhancing the resolution of covariance-based direction-of-arrival estimators which is applicable to equispaced linear arrays and uncorrelated sources is discussed. It is based on the exploitation of the periodic structure of the spatial covariance function existing in these cases. Simulation results that demonstrate the enhanced resolution obtained by applying the method in conjunction with the MUSIC algorithm are included. The enhanced resolution is especially conspicuous in the threshold region
