Abstract :
A method is proposed for realizing two-dimensional transfer functions (TDTF). Using this method, realizations can be directly obtained from the coefficients of the TDTF, without performing canonical decomposition of the state equations and solving nonlinear equations. The possibility of reducing the realization dimensional and determining the conditions to be imposed on the TDTF for the reduction is considered. A class of TDTF that can be realized with a minimal dimension with respect to both of the variables is also presented
