Abstract
Single wavelength soliton transmission at 80 Gbit/s has been successfully performed over 172 km of installed fibre, using part of a commercial metropolitan optical network in Jonkoping, Sweden. Soliton data with pulsewidths of 4.5 ps were successfully transmitted with an average power penalty for all eight time-division-multiplexed channels of 1.3 dB
