Abstract
The utilization of active power filters in suppressing harmonics generated by nonlinear loads in AC distribution power systems will considerably be generalized in the near future. With regard to the circuit topology, there are two basic kinds of active filter: voltage source; and current source. This paper presents a comparison of these topologies from different points of view such as power circuit design, semiconductor constraints, filtering quality, robustness, adaptability and load transient behaviour
