Abstract :
The nature and effects of power system harmonics are reviewed. The V-Meter, a computer-controlled hand-held meter that measures power system harmonics, is discussed, and the instrumentation, data acquisition, computer interface, and data analysis capabilities used to track and analyze harmonics present in the system voltage or current are described. Since the performance of transformers in a harmonic-rich load environment is a major concern, an application of the meter on a dry-type transformer is featured.<>
