Abstract :
This paper covers in some detail the construction, development and operation of a Van de Graaff type of electrostatic generator, which was originally designed to give an output current of one milliampere at a potential of seven hundred kilovolts, operating at atmospheric pressure. it will be seen that under certain conditions this current and voltage may be considerably exceeded. As the generator was originally intended for nuclear research in a restricted space, the overall dimensions were reduced to a minimum.
