Utilization of natural power resources such as wind and solar cells has been growing rapidly in recent times. However, the output power of such resources depends on natural conditions and always fluctuates widely. Therefore, devices capable of storing electric energy for some time before it is required are essential in order to ensure stable operation of power networks incorporating natural resources. Many such storage systems or devices have been developed, e.g., pumped hydropower and rechargeable batteries.
