Abstract :
Cubic and octahedral magnetite specimens from a variety of localities have been examined to ascertain the influence of chemical composition on their morphology. The presence of cations which favor occupancy of the A site in the magnetite spinel structure is shown to be significant in the formation of cubic magnetite at concentrations of x=0.02 in the formula ZnxFe3-xO4, with unusual order-disorder phenomena accompanying this change in habit
