Abstract :
This paper presents a DC/DC converter suitable for HVDC applications requiring a high step-ratio, such as HVDC taps. A circuit and its method of operation are introduced and demonstrated through a full scale, 500 kV and 200 MW, simulation model. The paper also includes an analysis of the power losses in all major circuit components for the simulation model.
