Abstract :
The authors describe the design and testing of gas-insulated metalclad switchgear (GIS) which use SF6 as an insulant. The switchgear today extends from 66 to 800 kV and is often used in EHV substations. High-frequency transients and earthing of GIS is also discussed and it is compared with open-terminal switchgear
