Abstract :
The paper contends that, to be efficient, industrial maintenance must be controlled through an organized system. From an analysis of the functions of a maintenance department, the paper derives the principles underlying good organization and illustrates some of these by examples. It is suggested that some standardization of systems would facilitate co-operation between design, installation and maintenance engineers, with mutually beneficial results.
