Abstract :
Key aspects for continuous contact recording technology were investigated experimentally. A slider with 0.7 mN contact force was used. Slider jump height and head positioning error were negligible with a low stiction media. Wear of head protective layer was predicted to be several nm through the drive lifetime. Mechanical spacing estimated from PW50 was 8 nm. These results proved feasibility of continuous contact recording scheme
