Abstract
Genetic algorithms (GAs) have been successfully applied to optimization problems in a variety of applications in electromagnetics. In this paper, GAs are used along with a gradient-based direct search technique. The proposed hybrid optimization procedure was found to be efficient in most of the applications. The strengths of both techniques are used at different stages of the search. A magnetizer example is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed technique
