  • Abstract
I have a confession to make; I joined the IEEE for all the wrong reasons. You see, I had just enrolled at a large state university after completing a two year pre-engineering program at a smaller school, and I found countless organizations waiting for me — and my money — with open arms. Faced by these hordes of competing groups, with limited funds at my disposal, there were tough decisions to make. I decided to become an IEEE member primarily because I thought “I-Triple-E” had a nice ring to it and “Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers” looks good on a resume.
