Abstract :
A method for calculating transient voltages and currents at a large number of intermediate points along a transmission line is presented. In the family of EMTP-type programs, these “profile” calculations are normally made by explicitly connecting a number of short line sections to create intermediate nodes where voltages and currents can be monitored. This approach is time-consuming, computationally intensive and can be inaccurate if the number of intermediate nodes is large. The model presented here allows the accurate evaluation of voltages and currents at an arbitrary number of equally-spaced points along the line. The frequency dependence of the line parameters is taken into account. It is computationally fast and easy to use
