Abstract :
An Administration-supported bill establishing a White House Office of Science and Technology Policy has been overwhelmingly passed by the House and appears destined for Senate passage. The bill, titled the National Science and Technology Policy and Organization Act of 1975, is the culmination of two years of Congressional hearings, and aims to reestablish the science advisory function abolished by President Nixon. Testifying at the final Senate Committee hearings on November 12, IEEE President Arthur Stern supported the proposed legislation on behalf of IEEE and the 11 other societies of the Association for Cooperation in Engineering (see “Inside IEEE,” this issue).
