Abstract :
Intermodal interference, which is generated in a system where optical discontinuities are present close together, is found to give the insertion loss a wavelength dependence. This spectrum profile can be simply analysed using the two-mode approximation, the accuracy of which is within 0.3 dB in the 1.3-1.7 μm region
