  • Abstract
Recent advances indicate that microwave-based imaging systems have the potential to be used for different medical applications, such as head imaging. This application is specifically important for fast brain stroke detection. It is shown in this paper that a system designed to operate across the band from 1-4 GHz achieves satisfactory imaging results of the brain. The system uses an array of directional antennas that have corrugated tapered slot structures. Details of the system with some initial results in addition to the technical challenges facing that system are explained.
