Abstract :
During the decomposition of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) by plasma, fluoride ions are generated in water. Since fluorine is an important resource for industry, the recovery of the fluoride ions from the plasma-treated PFOS solution was performed by an electrodialysis method. PFOS and the by-products in the solution caused fouling. Therefore, electrodialysis was conducted after the complete decomposition of PFOS by the plasma. As a result, 96% of the fluoride ions were successfully recovered from a 20-mL plasma-treated solution containing fluoride ions at a concentration of 30.4 mg/L.
