Abstract :
The UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education is introducing a new procedure, the Academic Review for assessing the quality of education provision. This paper discusses the similarities and differences between; the Academic Review (introduced in Scotland in October 2000) and the Subject Review system that has run in England and Northern Ireland since September 1995. It identifies issues that are specific to Engineering departments and considers how to interpret the scores between the two systems
