Abstract :
A new class of ordered multicast protocols for group communication is presented which relies on statistical prediction of application traffic patterns. Lower and upper bounds for the message latency have been established and an example protocol called credited virtual acknowledgment (CVACK) has been evaluated via simulation. The protocol is shown to perform close to the class-constrained optimum and to be competitive with existing solutions
