Abstract :
Artificial emotion is a new and attractive area to the intelligent control community. In this paper, the major medical psychological view-points on emotion, i.e., the characteristics of emotion and the relationship among emotion, cognition and intelligence, are introduced. The signals based on which emotion recognition is carried out, as well as the main approaches to the recognition and the modeling of emotion are overviewed. Applications of artificial emotion to those areas such as intelligent robotics, human-machine interaction, and intelligent transportation are also introduced, and the future works are further discussed.
