Abstract :
An interpolation of the sparse depth map of stereopsis is a necessary accomplishment in early vision. A neural implementation of a class of interpolants, known as the Shepard surfaces, is discussed. The computing nature of neurons is exploited, and the results suggest that a variety of early visual functions could be neurally realized in this fashion
