Title :
A proposed traffic model for fiber-in-the-loop power demand
Abstract :
A model to calculate the activity level that must be supported by a group of optical network units (ONUs) sharing a single source of electrical power and the power demand generated by this activity level is presented. The aggregate power demand of these ONUs depends on per-line traffic demand, grade of service, degree of loss in the power loops, and design parameters of the ONUs. The model differentiates between the demands of off-hook and ringing. It is shown that because of the small number of lines involved, the Erlang B formula for traffic is not appropriate
