Abstract :
As wavelengths shrink to the mm and sub-mm range new capabilities from material sensing to imaging become possible, in addition to the larger bandwidths possible for large data communication. These new application possibilities from below 100GHz towards 1THz will be outlined in this talk. Paths of how to build cost effectively entire systems operating in the sub-THz frequency range using CMOS will be shown. An overview will be given of a fully integrated 160GHz RF Pulsed Radar Transceiver in 65nm CMOS with fully package integrated antennas.
