Abstract
An analytical approach is presented to investigate error probability when limiter-discriminator-integrator detection is applied to binary full and partial response continuous-phase modulation (CPM) in a mobile radio channel. The effects of a narrowband bandpass filter and multipath propagation including Doppler shift are taken into account. The improvements obtainable by means of decision feedback equalization (DFE) are also considered. The numerical results show that DFE generally leads to some performance improvements, whereas at high SNR, where an error floor due to the Doppler shift is observed, its effects are negative. Variation of the post-detection integration time has also been investigated, to achieve optimum performance with and without DFE
