Abstract :
We propose a tunable optical dispersion compensator (TODC) using an arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) and a flat mirror. The TODC employs simple and cost-effective optics, and its chromatic dispersion can be changed simply by translating the AWG. We obtained a tuning range of plusmn 250 ps/nm, a group delay ripple of Lt 3.5 ps and an insertion loss of 6.3 dB.
