Abstract
This document deals with optimal design of rotating electric machines. First of all, different requirements leading to an optimal design are discussed. The optimization problem is analyzed and expected results are theoretically predicted. Based on requirements, the choice of an appropriate optimizer (NSGA II) is justified. Finally, the application of the optimizer is demonstrated at several induction machine designs. Their design is performed using an industrial design tool, which has been coupled to the chosen optimizer. The achieved accordance with predicted results is discussed.
