Abstract
This paper talks about the influence of lamination manufacturing methods on the permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor performance. A 750W 10 pole fractional slot PM motor is designed. Three different PM motor prototypes are built with three different lamination processing methods: Punch, wire-cut and laser-cut stator laminations. Using the same rotor, PM motor performances are tested and compared with designed motor data. It is seen that the motor with wire-cut laminations provides results close to the designed data compared to other approaches.
