Abstract :
The author presents tutorial information for guidance in the engineering of telecommunication batteries. Various factors which affect the performance of the battery are discussed and means of compensating for them are provided. Discussions of general battery characteristics are included, together with features which must be considered to ensure optimal battery performance. Specific topics include system reserve time, system load current, system growth factor, battery life factor, paralleling of battery strings, intermittent charging and float voltage
