Abstract :
The paper proposes a new technique to measure the RLC parameters of an N-winding transformer. The technique operates in successive steps. First of all the resistive and inductive parameters are evaluated by low frequency analysis and the stray capacitances by resonance analysis. Successively, the final values are obtained by iterative procedure fitting the electrical equilibrium equations of each winding on experimental data obtained at the working frequency or over a range of frequencies. The parameter estimation accuracy is also investigated. The advantages of this technique are discussed in comparison to the traditional ones. The effectiveness and the validity of this technique are shown by the comparison of the experimental voltage given by a three-winding high frequency transformer prototype with those given by simulations of the corresponding electrical circuit model.
