Abstract
Response and adaptation of ecological system to global changes has become a key issue of global change research and of countermeasures formulation for human being. The position and function of Coarse Woody Debris (CWD) in biological geochemistry circulation, biological diversity and forestry water cycle is reviewed from the response of forest ecosystems on global changes, and the possible response and adaptation of CWD to global change was discussed based on the effects and feedback of ecosystem to global changes. The results show that CWD played an important potential role in the response and adaptation to global changes. A certain level of CWD storage can slowdown the effect of global changes on terrestrial ecosystems. As a result of the research bottlenecks which caused by the uncertainty of the decomposition of CWD, a techniques framework of study that was fit for the response and adaptation of CWD to global changes was established. It´s concluded that a coordinated approach is expected to better intergration amongst experimentals, monitoring, and models by building a data-model fusion system, and the long-term multi-factor study is also desirable in different scales during the future research.
