Abstract :
The method of discharge weighing iteration cannot character the phenomenon that groundwater in the multiaquifer well moves along the sceen when hydraulic heads in two aquifers are different, we call this phenomenon “channeling” when simulating the multiaquifer well, although it takes account of much impact factors. In this study, we give a solution of this problem through combining the method of discharge weighing iteration and “High Kv in Wellblock” of MODFLOW. The vertical equivalent permeability coefficient of the well is calculated based on estimating the max “channeling”flow along the well, and then average permeability coefficient of well grids is calculated by mass conservation theorem and Darcy´s law. Two typical examples are taken to confirm the advantage of our approach. The results show that the head gradient along the well direction, calculated by the method of discharge weighing iteration, was large, even so in the steady state, so it does not approach the actual. It suggested that our improved method is more reasonable.
