R-TIS: Real time travel information system for multi-modal real time information for Southampton Airport, the Olympic Park and the London Transport Museum

This paper focuses on the provision of real time travel information to transport network users and will discuss the processes in establishing agreements with transport providers to gain reliable access to their real time data for use on real time travel information displays (R-TIS). The paper will then move on to discuss the software and hardware architecture used to implement the system and why we chose this route. We will discuss the differing presentation styles of displaying the real time information depending on its environment and the behaviour of the people interacting with the displays. Finally, the paper will report on the feedback we have received from the users of the systems and how wider adoption of the technology could lead to increased public transport uptake.
