Abstract :
License plate location is an important stage for vehicle license plate recognition. Basing on corner detection and edge extraction, a method is applied to license plate location of vehicle images. Thresholding method is adopted at first. Second, the image is operated by mathematical morphology in order to achieve the clear edge of vehicle licenses. Then, vehicle license plate is located by the improved method. Experimental results demonstrate the great robustness and efficiency of our method.
