Abstract
When a three phase induction motor - connected to a single phase power supply using the Steinmetz connection - operates in a practical no-load condition, not all windings consume active power. One of the windings injects active power into the grid since active power is transferred from one winding to another winding. Using the steady-state equivalent circuit of the motor and symmetrical components, this power reversal phenomenon is studied. MATLAB simulations and practical measurements confirm the power reversal phenomenon.
