Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel soft-switching AC-DC converter. The conventional single-stage PFC converter has prominent features of simple structure and high efficiency. However, in practice, an RC snubber is needed to absorb surge energy generated by parasitic inductances, and so it causes the decrease in power conversion efficiency. The proposed AC-DC converter recovers the absorbed surge energy to the output side. Consequently the cause of efficiency decrease can be removed. The basic characteristics were confirmed experimentally
